Open to all students attending schools in the City of Ottawa, with the following exceptions as the following areas are outside of our Zone area.

  1. Schools in the former City of Kanata – please contact the Royal Canadian Legion  Kanata Branch 638 for the date of their public speaking contest
  2. Schools in the former Township of West Carleton – please contact the  Royal Canadian Legion West Carleton Branch 616 for the date of their public speaking contest
  3. Schools in the former Township of Osgoode – please contact the Royal Canadian Legion Osgoode Branch 589 for the date of their public speaking contest
  4. Schools in the former Township of Greely – please contact the Royal Canadian Legion Greely Branch 627 for the date of their public speaking contest

The Public Speaking Contest is divided into two parts:

Part one is for Grades 1 to 6 and check in time at the above noted branch is at 8:00 am with the public speaking contest starting at 8:30 am sharp.

Part two is for Grade 7 to 12 and check in time at the above noted branch is schedule for12:30 pm with the public speaking contest starting around 1:00 pm.

The topic for their speech is open for students and speeches can be in either French or English

Due to limited time we are required to limit the number of entries as follows: Grades 1 to 6 – 30 entries and Grades 9 to 12 – 30 entries. Registration forms will be accepted on a first come first served basis and are to be sent to me by e-mail or by fax as indicated below.

On March the 3rd, registration for Grades 1 to 6 starts at 8:00 am and Grades 7 to12 starts at 12:30 pm at the above noted address. Please note that we will make every effort to ensure that all students that wish to participate will be able to speak. Therefore it is important to sign up as soon as possible so we can adjust the time line for the day's events.
