What's happening in Zone G5?

: If your branch has an upcoming event that you would like to promote to your Legion Comrades, send your information directly to me at: info@wwwebworks.ca

Army RunThe Royal Canadian Legion is a sponsor of the annual Canada Army Run, held in Ottawa September 15-17. This year, we have partnered with the Army Run to offer “Remembrance Row”, a new section of the race course that will display photos of deceased Veterans. This commemorative section offers another way for Canadians to honour and remember Canada’s Veterans.

The Army Run is looking for volunteers to help with Remembrance Row. We’d love if you could help get the word out, encouraging Legion members to volunteer. Members can register online through the Army Run website: http://armyrun.ca/registration-parent/volunteers/

Members can also submit a photo of a loved one to be included in Remembrance Row (deadline for submissions is August 21). Details are online: http://armyrun.ca/race-weekend/remembrance-row/

Below are links are recent social media posts about Remembrance Row and the call for volunteers.
We’d love to see a big Legion presence at the race!
On Saturday, August 26, a contingent of American Legion and Veteran of Foreign Wars Members from three Posts in Lincoln County in New York State are coming to Ottawa to visit the Canadian War Museum and to hold a commemorative service at the National War Memorial. View itinerary

In order to make the day a success, we need a sizable Canadian contingent to be present.

Anyone able to attend either the Museum tour or the Service at the National War Memorial is asked to RSVP with our Zone Deputy Commander, Tim Blanchard at timblanchardjr2@gmail.com.

Questions can be directed to the event organizer, District Deputy Commander Joel VanSnick, at Joel.vansnick@sympatico.ca
The World Remembers

The World Remembers is a unique commemoration and reconciliation display that will be projected onto the Government Conference Centre in the centre of Ottawa from September 24th – November 11th, 2017. To mark Canada's 150th and the WWI Centenary, we will project in light the names of the more than 21,000 Canadians killed in 1917 as well as the 660,000 names from the United Kingdom, Australia, Belgium, France, Germany, the United States, Italy, the Czech Republic, Italy, Slovenia, Turkey, New Zealand, China and the British Indian Army. This historic WWI names and photo display will start at sunset September 24th and run each night until sunrise November 11th.
